A Young Woman’s Dream Interrupted

Just a few months ago, in September, 21-year-old Seble Asefa was celebrating one of the happiest days of her life: her wedding. Raised in Woreta town, South Gonder, Ethiopia, Seble was full of hope, starting a new chapter with dreams of building a family and a bright future.

But only weeks after her wedding, Seble began feeling extremely fatigued and short of breath. What her family first believed were normal pregnancy symptoms quickly became something much more serious.

A Devastating Diagnosis and Tragic Loss

Seble was diagnosed with Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia (AML) — an aggressive and fast-moving blood cancer. To make matters even more heartbreaking, she was 24 weeks pregnant at the time.

Doctors faced the impossible challenge of treating cancer while trying to protect her unborn baby. Tragically, due to the severity of the illness, her baby passed away in utero (IUFD).

In just a few short months, this young bride lost her child and was thrust into a life-threatening fight for survival.

Fighting for Her Life in India

With the incredible support of compassionate Ethiopians around the world, Seble was able to travel to Max Super Speciality Hospital in New Delhi, India, for advanced treatment.

For the past three months, she has endured two intense rounds of chemotherapy. She has shown remarkable strength and courage.

But the cancer has been resistant.

Now, doctors say her only real chance at survival is a Bone Marrow Transplant. She is currently undergoing very high-dose chemotherapy to prepare her body for this life-saving procedure.

Why We Urgently Need Your Help

The cost of long-term treatment in a foreign country is overwhelming. We urgently need to raise USD $20,000 (around 30,000 CAD) to cover:

• The Bone Marrow Transplant procedure

• High-dose preparatory chemotherapy
