Help Michelle Polzine's 20th Century Cafe!

Donation protected
I know that for many San Franciscans, my 20th Century Cafe in Hayes Valley is so much more than a neighborhood corner spot: it's a refuge from the daily and sometimes dreary grind of the modern world. I've filled it with some of my favorite dishes and have worked hard to create an atmosphere in the tradition of the Old World's grand cafes.

Like so many small San Francisco businesses, my beloved cafe has been directly and significantly impacted by COVID-19 and the ensuing health crisis. On top of this, as you may have read in SF Eater, I have had some recent health challenges.  But I am resolved that none of this is going to dampen my determination!

Unfortunately with many of the federal, state, and local funding sources are already depleted; I now appeal to you, our beloved cafe society members, to help keep this place of refuge alive, so that we may once again be comforted by hot jazz and honey cake on the other side of this most trying time! All of the funds generated by this campaign will go directly into the cafe as I prepare to re-launch it just as soon as I am lawfully able to do so. There have been so many unforeseen expenses due to this situation, but the kindness and generosity of you all continue to fuel my drive. Thank you!

**May 22 Update**

Dear Cafe Society,

I want to announce that entirely because of your effort, we have reached our fundraising goal.

I am honored, that in these times of uncertainty and financial instability, you have chosen to support my adventurous little venture. Because of you, we were able to begin taking orders and have curbside service once a week. As I become stronger physically: we will increase our service.

I’m not sure when we will be able to open our doors properly and have Nick play his guitar in the corner, while we sip pink bubbles from vintage champagne coupes. For now we will focus our energy on what we do have right now and that is that we still have the power to create beautiful food.

You have my endless thanks for what you have done for me, and I hope, if you are able, that you will continue supporting other small, special places that you love.

Yours in burnt honey,

- Michelle Polzine, owner & chef
