Remembering & Honoring Carlos E. Soliz: Son, Brother, Friend

Donation protected
Carlos E. Soliz, of Grottoes, VA, passed away unexpectedly overnight on Palm Sunday, April 14th, 2025 - leaving his family and friends with immense sorrow and loss.

Born October 10, 1965 in Washington, DC and raised in Northern Virginia, Carlos was a humble and kind man, cherished and beloved by family and friends. Carlos was a devoted son to his mother, Nancy Villarroel, and very often visited and assisted her at her home in North Carolina. Carlos could always be counted on to lend a hand, offer assistance when called upon; he was an unselfish and generous friend.

He attended St. James Catholic School in Falls Church, VA and graduated from McLean High School in McLean, VA in 1985. He furthered his education at Northern Virginia Community College and Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina.

Carlos will be joyfully remembered for his love of cars (he cherished Ford Mustangs), his many hobbies (especially remote control cars), and his humility and kindness. Carlos was a highly skilled IT specialist and was blessed with an innate ability for all things mechanical. He loved building cars, fine-tuning computers, and he was often called upon by friends and family to help repair items that were thought unfixable. Carlos also had great affection and love toward dogs, leaving behind his 2-year old chihuahua, Taco.

Carlos was a loyal, resilient and steadfast friend: he enjoyed life-long friendships and could always be relied upon to lend support to his close circle of friends.

Carlos is survived by his mother Nancy, sisters Cynthia & Ximena, and a large extended family, including nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Carlos Soliz, Sr. He will also be greatly missed by his dear friend Debbie Shifflet, who greatly shares in his family's sorrows over Carlos' passing. Debbie brought immense joy and love to Carlos' life, and his family is eternally grateful for their shared love.

A Roman Catholic Funeral Mass for the repose of the soul of Carlos will offered at Saint James Catholic Church, on Thursday, May 22nd, at 10 AM. The address is 905 Park Avenue, Falls Church, VA 22046.

Carlos' family requests prayers and expresses heartfelt thanks to all for your assistance, and may God bless you always.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
