I am writing on behalf of our fellow coworker and friend Ramon Morales and his wife Vannesa, who need our help as their daughter Sophia is ill and needs serious medical treatment. Vannesa is currently unable to work as she is caring for Sophia, and they need our help financially. Please help donate and spread this campaign far and wide. If you can, please keep Sophia and her family in your thoughts and prayers. They have a long road ahead of them, and we need to come together to do all we can for the Morales family. Sophia is a fun and happy 2-year-old girl. She loves playing with her sister Camila, visiting her grandparents, and going out with her parents. She became ill in February, and what we thought was just a cold or the flu turned into any parent’s worst nightmare. She was diagnosed with a rare, complicated, and life-threatening condition called hemophagocytic lymphocytosis (HLH). This condition is an autoimmune disorder that causes certain white blood cells in Sophia’s body to attack other healthy cells. It leads to organ enlargement and inflammation that can be fatal. HLH is a rare disorder for which there is not a lot of information or treatment options. Since her diagnosis, Sophia has been in and out of the hospital for weeks at a time, and she is on many medications. Despite different treatments, she continues to have HLH flare-ups, which means that she will have to undergo a stem cell or bone marrow transplant. Sophia has a long road ahead to recovery, and her family is preparing for this upcoming challenge and the difficulties that arise.
