Help 1st Graders Experience Nature Field Trips

My 1st grade students love spending time exploring the outdoors. As we approach the end of the school year, one of our final units focuses on gardening, and I want to give them the opportunity to connect their classroom learning with a hands-on gardening experience at Madison School Farm. This is especially important for my class, as they are part of a dual language immersion program and benefit greatly from real-life applications of their learning. Bi-literacy is a real-world skill, and experiences like these help students see the value of what they are learning in both languages.

Unfortunately, the costs of transportation and program fees are beyond what our district can provide, and we do not want to place additional financial burdens on our students' families. In addition to the gardening trip, we are hoping to celebrate the end of the year with a visit to Cave of the Mounds. My students are so excited about the idea of going on a field trip, especially since they haven't had a single one yet this year. These experiences would mean so much to them and help bring their learning to life.

All kids deserve to find joy in nature, and I am asking for your support to help make these field trips possible for students who are identified as underprivileged. Your generosity will help cover transportation and entry costs, ensuring that every child in my class can participate and create lasting memories.
