Help 19-Year-Old Turja Roy Fight Leukemia – He Deserves a Chance at Life

Turja Roy, a 19-year-old from Srimangal, Moulvibazar in Bangladesh, is a bright and ambitious young student with a dream to build a better future. A star performer throughout his academic journey, Turja consistently earned a perfect GPA 5.0 from primary school through to his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams. He was preparing to sit for his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams this year.

But life took a devastating turn. Just last month, Turja was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)—a type of aggressive blood cancer. His family immediately took him to MGM Cancer Institute in Chennai, India, hoping to save him.

Tragically, shortly after starting treatment, Turja developed several life-threatening infections — fungal, tuberculosis, and a blood-borne viral infection. His white blood cell count plummeted to 300, forcing doctors to pause his cancer treatment to stabilize his condition. His health declined rapidly, and he had to be placed on oxygen support to survive.

With costs at MGM Cancer Institute spiraling beyond their means, Turja’s family moved him to Kanappa Memorial Hospital, a more affordable facility in Chennai. But even this remains far out of reach for a family already stretched to the edge of financial ruin.

Turja’s father, a school bus driver in Dubai, was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia just last year, and most of their life savings went into his treatment. The family has since sold their only land and all of Turja’s mother’s jewelry—yet it is still not enough.

Doctors say Turja has an 80–90% chance of recovery if he can complete the full course of treatment: six months of chemotherapy followed by 1.5 years of oral medication. That’s a strong chance for a full life — but it depends on one thing: your help.
