A diverse group of 16 New Haven Academy public school students are raising money so they can travel to Washington, DC with the Close Up program. They will meet students from other parts of the country and gain a stronger understanding of government institutions, history and current issues, as well as their roles as citizens/residents. Please help us raise $3500 to make this exciting learning experience accessible to all students regardless of their family's income. The total cost of the trip will be $8500, with the rest of the funds coming from a grant, school-budgeted trip money, and donations from families. Thank you for your support!!!
About The Close Up High School Program:
Using Washington, DC, as a living classroom, Close Up high school students make personal connections with the people and institutions that embody our nation’s past and present. Close Up’s once-in-a-lifetime program opportunities are designed to inspire and empower students to become active participants in our democracy. With the help of our program instructors, students experience history and government, consider a variety of viewpoints on important current issues, and build the skills of engaged citizenship.
