Help 16 year Iraqi war vet rebuild her home

My name is Najimah Lewis. I am a sixteen year, two - tour Iraqi war veteran who was honorably and medically discharged from the Army.

 

I was a Sargeant First class platoon Leader in Iraq and also served as a communications officer. After serving my country, I continued to serve my community for three years as a volunteer teacher for a summer youth program.

 

 

In this program, I served as a teacher and a mentor for minority children and children that live at or below the poverty line.

 

 

I taught computer and audio engineering in north eastern Pennsylvania during the summer months.

In the years to follow, I became the primary caregiver of my father. He was living in my home on manning ave in Jersey city, NJ. My Step Mom, Step sister and niece were also living in my home at the time of the fire. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I experienced financial difficulties maintaining my own medical care and the care of my father. I had to go without many things to keep a roof over my families head. We do not know how the fire started but all of our possessions were lost.

My goal was to start a mobile audio studio. I purchased a used commercial truck but it was destroyed in the fire along with my car.

My father climbled up a ladder and rescued my step sister and niece from the fire.

 

My father suffered 2nd degree burns on his hands and face and suffered a heart attack shortly after the ambulance arrived.

Their was damage done to the surrounding properties.

The firemen did all they could but everything is lost.

 

My ask:

 

Funding is needed to demolish the damaged property 20k-30k

To pay for attorneys fees 10k

To pay for damages of neighbors property 50k

Rebuild home 150k

 

We need the funding as soon as possible. Many have been sheltered by the red cross.
