Hello, this is Kain's Mother and Family.

14-year-old Kain Hulett was involved in a horrific accident at a QuikTrip in Wichita, Kansas, where he caught on fire and suffered devastating injuries.

Today, Kain entered his first of what doctors say will be many surgeries. His medical team has told our family that the surgeries and treatment he will need are expected to cost upwards of $500,000.

Today’s surgery is just the beginning of his long road to recovery. Doctors are working to carefully remove the damaged skin and tissue to reach a fresh, healthy layer of tissue so that his body can begin the healing process.

Kain is only 14 years old. Our family is facing something no parent should ever have to imagine, and right now, our focus is on Kain—being by his side, supporting him through each surgery, and helping him through the long recovery ahead.

The financial burden of his medical care, surgeries, hospitalization, rehabilitation, medications, transportation, and other unexpected expenses will be overwhelming.
