Help 14 yr old Jayden recover from gun violence

My name is Caroline Gonzalez Scott and I’m raising funds for Jayden Mejia. Jayden is the son of my former student, single mom Shakita. Her great character has remained close to my heart since she was in my class, and I’m eager to help her in her time of need. She is raising two sons, Jayden and his nine year old brother Jhamir. The boys genuinely let the world know at every chance how their mom hangs the moon, and this is a chance for us to help her keep it hanging.
In September 2022, 14-year-old Jayden was shot in the head near his home. Jayden survived the shooting but was left with a traumatic brain injury, which changed his life forever. Currently, he is wheelchair bound with limited consciousness, limited use of his limbs and eating through a feeding tube.
Jayden was excelling in school as well as on the football field. He was a preparing to become a starting quarterback at Roosevelt High School before this incident changed his life.
His family needs our support. We are setting a goal to raise $75,000 for the family to use for the medical care he will need once he is home in the next few weeks, given the number of medical costs and the fact that his mother, who is his primary care provider, cannot return to work because she is caring for him.
We are heartbroken for his family. You shouldn’t be at the wrong place at the wrong time when that place is your HOME. Please do what you can to help. If you cannot give monetarily, please consider sharing on your social media.
