Help 12 year old Ruby’s fight against brain cancer

Dear Friends, Family and Wider Community,

We are in desperate need of your support for our dear friend Ruby.

After a year of feeling unwell and not knowing why, Ruby suffered a seizure at school on Thursday, Feb 1, 2024 prompting a rush to Women’s and Children’s Hospital for follow up treatment and tests.

The devastating diagnosis was a sizeable brain tumour which could not be completely removed during surgery without causing irreversible damage.

Further tests revealed the heart breaking confirmation that the tumour was in fact malignant with the need for 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy and the potential for chemotherapy.

Following surgery, which took place two weeks ago, Ruby has not recovered as well or as quickly as the medical staff had hoped. She is in a lot of pain and currently has vision loss and paralysis to her left side. This would be a traumatic experience for anyone, let alone a 12 year old.

Ruby is a very special person to our family and a very close friend to our daughter Evie. They have danced together since the age of 5 and we have enjoyed many special occasions in Ruby’s company.

Ruby is a caring, kind, smart, attentive, polite young lady who just started her middle school journey with a strong committed passion for dance outside of school.

We are determined to ensure Francesca (Ruby’s mum) is able to remain by her daughters side through this battle.

Francesca is a single mum who has always put Ruby’s needs before her own and it’s now that she will need her mum more than ever. It is critical that Francesca has the financial ability to endure the complex schedule that will inevitably transpire through accessing appointments and managing both their health and well-being throughout this long and hard road ahead of them.

All money donated no matter how big or small would be so greatly appreciated and will go towards treatment, bills and time off work.
