Ezariah, lovingly known as “Yaya,” is a brave and energetic 11-year-old whose life recently changed in an instant. After spending over a month in the hospital, we are incredibly grateful that Yaya is finally home — but his journey to healing is far from over.

Yaya continues to experience severe, unexplained pain throughout his body, especially in his legs. At times the pain becomes so intense that his legs give out, leaving him unable to walk. Doctors are still working to determine what is causing these symptoms, and Yaya has now been referred to multiple specialists as they search for answers.

Before all of this began, Yaya was the kind of kid who was always full of life. He loved sports, running, playing outside, and being active with friends and family. Watching such a vibrant young boy struggle simply to move has been heartbreaking for everyone who loves him.

Yaya’s mom, Krystal, is a hardworking single mother of three boys — Yaya, Grady, and Josiah — and the sole provider for their family. In order to be by Yaya’s side and take him to the many upcoming medical appointments and specialist visits, Krystal has had to make the difficult decision to take unpaid leave from work, creating a significant financial strain for their household.

Over the coming weeks and months, Yaya will continue outpatient treatment while meeting with five different specialists in hopes of finally finding answers and a path toward healing. Between ongoing testing, medical visits, travel to appointments, and the loss of income during this time, the financial burden has become overwhelming.

I’m organizing this fundraiser because Krystal is someone who means a lot to many of us. She is a dedicated mother who has always worked hard to provide a loving and stable life for her boys. Watching Yaya go through this has been heartbreaking, and we wanted to find a way to support their family during such a difficult time.

We are asking for support to help ease the stress on this family so Krystal can focus on what matters most — helping Yaya heal and regain the active life he loves.
