✨ Help 10-Year-Old Mia Fight Synovial Cell Sarcoma ✨
Hi, my name is Diana Marrone, and I’m creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my dear friend Danica and her daughter Mia.
Danica and I have been friends for 15 years. We’ve grown up together through so many seasons of life, and our bond became even stronger when we both became moms. Our daughters were born just months apart and weve shared so many of the same milestones and accomplishments along the way. Recently, Danica and Mia's world was turned upside down, and will never be the same.
⸻
❤️ Meet Mia
Mia is an exceptionally brilliant, bubbly, kind 10-year-old she loves playing with her friends, her doggie and child games of all kinds.
At just 10 years old, Mia should be spending her days laughing with friends, learning at school, and dreaming big. Instead, she is no longer returning to the classroom, she is facing something no child should ever have to fight. Childhood cancer. It is going to change the way she sees the world.
⸻
The Diagnosis: Stage 3 Synovial Cell Sarcoma
Recently, Mia received the heartbreaking diagnosis of stage 3 Synovial Cell Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that develops in the soft tissues — most commonly around the joints. In Mia’s case, it has formed in the ligaments behind her right knee, an especially challenging and painful location.
Synovial Cell Sarcoma is rare in children, making treatment more complex and urgent. In Mia’s case, she is going to need:
• Intensive 6 rounds of chemotherapy
• Targeted radiation treatments
• Ongoing scans, hospital visits, and specialized care
• Surgery followed by physical therapy
This is a long, difficult road — emotionally, physically, and financially.
⸻
A Mother’s Strength & A Sudden Hardship
Mia’s mom, Danica, is a hardworking single mother who has always done everything in her power to support her daughter. But on the very same day Mia went in for her biopsy — the day they found out it was cancer — Danica lost her job.
She is now facing every parent’s worst nightmare: watching her child fight cancer while also struggling to provide stability, transportation to treatments, groceries, and basic needs.
What should be a time focused on healing is instead filled with worry about how they will survive the months ahead.
⸻
Why We’re Asking for Help
This campaign has been created to help lift the heavy financial and emotional burdens from Mia and her mom so they can focus fully on Mia’s treatment and recovery.
Funds raised will help with:
• Medical expenses not covered by insurance
• Transportation to and from chemotherapy & radiation
• Groceries and daily living essentials
• Rent and utility support
• Time off work so Danica can care for Mia
• Potential future physical therapy and surgery
• Any unexpected costs along the journey
Knowing the community is behind them will give this family strength during the hardest fight of Mia’s young life.

Mia’s Story
Please take a moment to read more about Mia’s journey.
Mia was born healthy and has never had more than a cold or the flu in her young life. Recently, when playing with her dog and her dogs tail hit Mia in the back of the knee, Danica knew something wasn't right. The scans returned with a mother's worst fear.
Mia will not be returning to school after Thanksgiving break, it's to risky for her to sick as she waits to hear from the Drs. to install her port catheter in her chest. Mia will then undergo 4 rounds of chemo to shrink the tumor. Followed by surgery to remove it. Then it is expected that she will have multiple rounds of radiation followed by more chemo and then physical therapy.
It is a hard fight and Mia has a fighter spirit and the support from so many to help her through it.
