Help 10-year-old Kenny battle cancer

HELP 10-YEAR-OLD KENNY OF LOCKPORT BATTLE CANCER

In March of this year, 10-year-old Kenny Miner of Lockport woke up and asked his mom if his leg was swollen. His mom came in to check, and found a lump the size of a baseball on his kneecap area.

It was then found that Kenny has osteosarcoma, which is a rare cancer caused at the growth plate. The cancer is on Kenny’s right leg under the growth plate and the femur connection. It happens during growth spurts and Kenny was going through a growth spurt at this time when the cancer developed.

Kenny immediately started treatments. He is going to be going through rounds of chemo prior to his implant. It’s a mechanism where they will go as far up the femur bone to the good tissue, the good bone, and his kneecap area.

The implant is a temporary one that he will continue to go back in and they will actually spin somehow with a mechanism to allow the implant to grow with him until he is 15. When he is 15 he will go back in and he will have another surgery where they will put in a permanent implant.

Friends say Kenny is the sweetest, kindest, loving, caring little boy that there is. He’s been very humble through all of this. He’s overwhelmed and he obviously gets in pain from all the treatments but he handles them like a champ.

His mom, Barbara, is a single mom. He has an older sister who is in eighth grade named Harlee. They both love Kenny very much.

Kenny is a big Buffalo Bills fan.
