My name is Christina, and on May 30th, my daughter Yvonne was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma stage 3. Yvonne is 10 years old, and for six months, we took her to doctor after doctor for enlarged lymph nodes. Everyone kept saying her body was fighting an infection. Mother intuition was telling me they were wrong and needed to do more tests. For 6 months, doctors made me feel like I was crazy and swore her body was fighting an infection. Blood work was sending red flags, but since my daughter wasn’t running a fever, they weren’t concerned. On May 27, a CT scan showed a MASS in her chest that wasn’t present 2 weeks ago. An emergency biopsy was ordered, and they removed 3 lymph nodes. Pathology came back that it was Hodgkin lymphoma. A PET scan was ordered, and after results came back, we were told that it's stage 3. This was so unexpected and heartbreaking. My family is drowning in hospital bills and is struggling to stay afloat with our household bills. Yvonne needs chemotherapy for 6 months. Some medications she has to take aren’t covered by our health insurance. Her father has continued to work and has been to every appointment Yvonne has had. If there is anything anyone can give, it will be greatly appreciated. Nothing is too small. I want to be able to focus on my baby getting better, but it’s so hard when everything around us is falling apart!
