This is one of the most tragic stories you will ever hear. I can’t even process the fact that I’m writing this. I’m in shock. A moment can truly change everything.
Sayed & Samiullah (Sami) were two brothers born and raised in Logar, Afghanistan about 30 miles outside of the capital Kabul. Sayed was a farmer working hard to make ends meet and provide for his wife and 7 kids, oldest being 16 years old. Sami was a driver trying to provide for his wife and 3 kids, oldest being only 12 years old. They were both amazing people, great fathers and would never hurt anyone. Due to the constant wars & instability both brothers had completed only elementary-level education. They were also very poor, so much that Sami was using ropes and wires to tie parts of his car together to keep it from falling apart. That car was his only source of income. Sayed was living such simple life as a farmer that he didn’t own anything of value but would always have a smile and would help anyone in need with anything.
Everything changed one late September day. The two brothers were headed for a family wedding when their car was suddenly stopped by a couple of armed masked criminals on motorcycles in Mohammad Agha district of Logar province. Without a choice, the brothers cooperated with the criminals and were informed that Sami, the younger brother, needed to go with them to talk about something. They promised they would bring him back soon. The older brother, Sayed, knew something wasn’t right, so he insisted not leave his brother alone and would go with them. After some back and forth both were taken, and unfortunately, that would be the last time these two brothers would be seen alive.
These blood-thirsty terrorists who knew neither compassion nor mercy ended up taking the two innocent brothers to a remote location, near a mountain. At this location, away from all help and humanity, the terror began. They were tortured, beaten, and eventually slaughtered in a manner so brutal and gruesome, that the horrific details cannot be described here. Suffice to say that when the bodies were found the next day they could not be recognized. These heinous acts have appalled the citizens of the village. Besides the endless grieving, remaining family members are trying to follow up with authorities to figure out what happened, but as of this moment, nothing has been found.
Most of the world will never know of Sayed or Sami. They had neither power, nor fame, nor money. They were simple, hard-working people, who led humble lives. Loving fathers, sons, and brothers. Devoted human beings, who just like everyone else, only wanted to see their children happy and prosperous.
As of the writing this post, no one knows why this happened, ultimately Sayed and Sami leave behind countless family members, friends, and loved ones. All trying to make sense of a senseless act. All, trying to lean on each other and find any source of hope in what now feels like a hopeless situation. While we grieve their loss and will likely never be able to come to terms with it, we are reminded of their legacies through the eyes of their children and through their memories.
They leave a total of 10 kids and now widows that are not able to work or provide for them. The attackers are still in the area and are of great safety concern for the kids. We would like to raise money so we can purchase a small home for them and relocate them to Kabul and away from danger.
Please help their two families during this unbelievably difficult time by generously contributing to this fundraiser. Every bit helps since these two were the only breadwinners of the entire family and have no other source of income.
All the collected funds will be used to purchase a home and relocate them away from danger in Kabul where the kids can also go to school.
