After four years of hard work, the SaMoTech teen-robotics team has earned a spot at the World Championship of the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC).
And they haven't just qualified, they're going as Regional Champions.
SaMoTech is a student-led team of 10 high school students, founded in 2022 by six freshmen working out of a family garage in Santa Monica. SaMoTech is still working out of that garage but is now an all-volunteer, 501c3 non-profit that also promotes STEM and engineering in public schools.
Today, SaMoTech is the #1-ranked team in one of the world's most competitive regions, outperforming more than 200 robots from across Los Angeles and Southern California.
Now, we are headed to Houston, Texas, from April 29 to May 3 to compete at the World Championship against the best of more than 8,000 teams from 50+ countries.
For our founding students, now all seniors in high school, this is the culmination of years of dedication, resilience, growth, and teamwork. Competing at Worlds is an incredible opportunity — but getting there comes with major expenses:
We are raising funds to help cover the cost of:
- Event registration
- Travel for 10 students and 2 volunteer coaches
- Five nights of hotel accommodations
- Transportation and logistics for our robot and equipment
- Robot upgrades and repairs
- Meals and snacks for the team
Any donation will help our team represent Santa Monica on the world stage and show what a group of dedicated students can achieve — even from a garage workshop.
If you are not able to donate, we thank you for considering it, and we would still be so grateful if you shared this fundraiser with others.
Thank you for believing in our team and supporting our journey to Worlds!
