Hurricane Melissa caused catastrophic damage to many families in Jamaica, and my mom’s cousin in Westmoreland was among those hit the hardest. She is 80 years old, suffers from dementia, and has no children or husband to help her. When the hurricane struck, she lost most of her roof and much of her furniture to water damage. Now, her home is barely livable, and she is left with very little to call her own.

She cannot work and relies entirely on the kindness of others for her care, medication, food, and repairs to her home. The funds raised will go directly toward replacing her damaged roof, buying new clothes and furniture, and paying for someone to help care for her. They will also help provide her with food and the medications she needs to stay healthy.
