Baby Helmet Therapy

We are in the process of adopting this sweet baby girl!  She is in need of helmet therapy to help correct her skull shape.  This would require a custom cranial orthosis (helmet) that she will need to wear 22 hours a day.  While we are waiting for our adoption process to be finalized she cannot be added to our family insurance plan and Medicaid will not cover the helmet that she needs.  The nonprofit agency that our adoption is through cannot help with the cost either.

Helmets work by directing growth from the flat spot, but they must be worn during the time when the skull (and therefore the brain) is actively growing.  So, she would need to wear the helmet for about 4 months and that needs to be completed before she is 12 months old.  She is already 7 months old, which means she needs to start her helmet therapy as soon as possible.  All funds will go directly to The Helmet Center at Children's Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
