The Pact:

Our Universe Ancestral Mother visits Earth at the beginning of time in the form of a wolf. Bringing two siblings, each representing the other’s opposite. Working well together for millennia until one of the siblings tips the balance completely over. The Mother’s then return to Earth is prompted by a profound realization about their own imperfections. Leading them to acknowledge the possibility of error by imposing ideals on Earth, instead of allowing the planet to naturally forge its own balance and move beyond Good and Evil.

The Pact’s History:

In 2015 – 2016 the first workshop started in the St. Ann’s Warehouse Puppet Lab. Since then, it has evolved so much and in 2022 I workshopped the piece as an Artist in Residence at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club and I am very grateful to be able to say La MaMa Presents The Pact in its full production.

The show is one of the biggest projects I’ve undertaken and not without the work of so many wonderful contributing artists.

A little about me:

I am a NYC Theatre artist, puppet maker, puppeteer, performer, builder, designer, dancer and actor. Originally hailing from Atlanta, GA, I moved to NYC in 2000 on Fellowship to The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. Having danced for numerous companies it was joining LOCO7 out of La MaMa in 2004 where my entrance to the puppetry world really laid the footprint into the evolution of my artistic trajectory. I was able to travel around the world touring as a puppeteer with The First National Tour of War Horse and Cirque du Soleil’s Toruk: The First Flight.  I’m drawn to the aspect of art and performance being an experience that brings us together, even if just one mind to another. It started as a ritual and still is. My artistic focus is to use what is purposeful and useful.
