Help Provide Ibeth with the funeral she deserves.

My name is ingrid I am ibeth older sister. I have set up this go fund me for my sister ibeth and mom. At first, we were apprehensive about asking for help. We have been blindsided by Ibeth diagnosis she has stage 4 Ewing Sarcoma.

Before her diagnosis ibeth had been miss diagnosed. We had gone to Inova Hospital where a doctor told her it was a bad sprain to just elevate heat and ice. She ended up with a hospital bill of $1,400 due to not having health insurance. She was so devastated when she received this bill that she got very discouraged of going anywhere else, she was unemployed because of her lack of mobility. She has no funds coming in to pay for doctors visits. Bill is still unpaid.

1 month and a half passed and noticed that ibeths ankle was not improving. So I suggest that she go and see a orthopedic doctor. She was quick to say no due to not having money to pay. I told her not to worry that I would help her with what I could.  So she went just to be told that it was a level 2 sprain. That she should wear a boot and elevate heat and ice just like the hospital had recommended. After this visit she was so angry and confused and just wanted to give up because everywhere she went they kept telling her the same thing. But she just didn’t understand why her ankle wouldn’t get better why couldn’t she walk on it!

Ibeth gets health insurance!! Right away we make  an appointment with her PCP on her card. We was told that her doctor was not going to be in For the visit that the nurse practitioner was going to attend her. I was concerned because I wanted to be seen by her primary. But at the end of the day the nurse practitioner did an amazing job evaluated her very well and referred her to the best ortho Pedic specialist ever. 

Ortho Virginia was where we finally started getting answers! Dr. Avery is amazing right away did X-rays. Review them and stated that something was not right. Ordered MRI we had to wait a couple of days but ones we got it done he called us next day and told us that he was not sure if it was One really bad arthritis or two a tumor so he recommended us to a colleague of his at cancers Virginia specialist. 

That’s where we met Dr. Wadajo on 01/21/2022. 

Another amazing doctor he was just so patient and caring. He looked at my sisters ankle and confirm that it was a tumor. That she would need a biopsy. Which was scheduled February 15.

That same night is when ibeth would not stop bleeding from her cheek. She had picked a pimple and it would just not stop bleeding. So my mom called me several times panicking. But I was in my sleep that I could not hear my phone. Finally I heard my phone and rushed to there house. Found that the bleeding had stopped but that she was sleeping on the floor. Asked her why and she tells me that she has been having really bad back pain for a week or so. That won’t let her sleep. So I tell her let’s go to the ER maybe that can give you some medication for the  pain. 

Inova hospital 1/22/2022. It was early morning so ER was somewhat empty so they take us to the back quick. They take her vitals and all her info down. Doctor comes in and said he looked at what her symptoms are and what she had described to be a nerve pain a pinched nerve on her back. I had to stop him and explain to him that she had just seen a cancer doctor the day before. Looked at my sister and I and said WAIT THEN WE ARE NOT DEALING WITH A HEALTHY PATIENT. He ordered CT scan report comes back and ibeth has a fracture on her spine with finding of possible tumors as well. 

Doctor orders MRI ibeth was in so much pain she could not Lay down straight in order to get MRI. So she was hospitalized so that they could do the MRI while she was sleeping. That’s when we got the news that she had other spots in her body a total of 5 tumors. 

This news was devastating. We could not believe it. How could a swollen ankle turn into cancer!!

After this ibeths life has changed she feels sad and just not like herself anymore. We try to keep her in good spirits. But only she and others that are in the same situation know what she is going through. I wish this was not happening to her. But I know she is strong and she will fight and beat this cancer!!!! 

So It is now becoming very clear to us that we will need all the help we can get, including financial support for them. Ibeth has a LONG road ahead of her. My mom and I are so thankful for your help as we will stand right beside her the entire way. These words of thanks come with tears of gratitude.
