Hello, we are the Chavez-Romero family.

We want to share the story of our son Kikin, a 2-year-old boy full of life, joy, and a strength that inspires us every day. Kikin was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome, a condition that affects the development of the bones and tissues in his little face.

Since his birth, Kikin has proven to be a true warrior. He has undergone several life-saving surgeries that have allowed him to breathe better—something that is automatic for many but has been his most important battle. Every surgery, every therapy, has been worth it to see him play, laugh, and enjoy time with his 6-year-old older sister, who adores him and cares for him as her greatest treasure.

We are a working-class family. My husband and I give everything for our two children, but Kikin's medical expenses are a mountain that is very difficult to climb alone. It's not just the surgeries themselves, which are complex, but everything that comes with them: traveling and staying away from home for long periods, away from our house, work, and our daughter's school. Additionally, month after month, Kikin needs specialized medical supplies, therapies, and care that our insurance or the health system does not fully cover.

What do we need the funds for?

Today, we appeal to your hearts and solidarity for two main reasons:

1. Upcoming out-of-town surgeries to continue with the reconstruction of his jaw so he can eat better, or ear surgeries to improve his hearing. This involves traveling, lodging for weeks, and covering expenses for those who stay behind.

2. Monthly medical expenses: Cannulas, feeding tubes, specific medications, etc., which are a fixed and essential part of our daily lives.

Every donation, no matter how small, is a sigh of relief for us. It's one less day of worrying about money and one more day to focus on what matters most: Kikin's love and recovery. It's another brick in building the healthy future our son deserves.
