Help hello again books stick around!

Typically, a business plan doesn't include a pandemic. Well, here we are. We opened our independent new & used bookstore on March 1st and we closed our doors three weeks later, in hopes of curbing the spread of COVID-19. We faced a stay at home order, meaning that our doors were closed for more than a month. Truly awesome customers helped us, donated, and we were able to pay our rent and open again in mid-June.
Now, COVID has hit Florida hard, and with it, our store. Again. A positive COVID test. The minute we found out, we made the decision to shut down. There was no question... we need to stop the spread and take every precaution to protect our community. We have closed our doors. Again. We're following the guidelines set by the CDC and the state, making sure that we're both clear of the 14 days and then 3 full days without any symptoms. So, we could be closed for a while.
We've heard some truly touching stories of landlords decreasing or even waiving rent during this crisis. That is not the case in our situation.
If you visit us and enjoyed the space and our books, please consider supporting us. If you love local, independent bookstores, help us pay rent so we can stick around. Consider helping us so you'll have the chance to experience hello again books in the future.
We believe independent bookstores have a place in communities like ours. Our books, events, and gift items are all chosen to cater to the diverse, inspirational, creative parts of each of us. We're here to bring people together, create together, and inspire all. It felt like it was working! We just need more time.
Our ultimate goal is to offer our community a literary space that celebrates creativity and diversity. For those of you who have already visited us, thank you! Your support and enthusiasm for our new & used bookstore indicated that we were on the right track. It was amazing. we miss you already.
We know this health crisis isn't over, but we're doing all we can to stay here for you.
If you're able, please donate what you might have spent on a book or two.
Thank you for everything.
Sincerely,
Amy & MerryBeth, owners of hello again books
