Helipads for hospitals desperately need a van!

TRANSIT VANS NEEDED!

About Helipads for Hospitals:
Helipads For Hospitals is a UK charity founded by former RAF and Air Ambulance helicopter pilot John Nowell,  The aim of the charity is to collect  more than one million drinks cans and other unwanted aluminium items (i. e. saucepans) in order to use the raw material to form an alloy strong enough to build a helipad on site at our hospitals.

Why do we need a van?
Member Jim Matthews, is a massive supporter and one of the “driving” forces  of Helipads for hospitals! He has been working tirelessly (and definitely driving the extra miles) emptying our  Big Red Bins containing one tonne  bags full of aluminium cans ... ...plus collecting masses of full to bursting boxes & every colour bag imaginable thanks to volunteer collectors and the huge efforts of our community litter picking heroes, very fondly known as our Wombles.

They are out there in rain, hail and shine, adding daily to the massive target of a million+ cans.

Jim, in his old, trusty car, collected then transported this hugely valuable cargo on to collection sites to be packaged up for the next stage in the recycling mission.
He has been amazing! But very sadly...whilst doing this all for charity he has written off his car, thus the collection and transportation of the aluminium is now proving extremely problematic as such a very large boot is required. Also, as  the project has grown so much, we urgently need to funds to buy a more substantial form of transport i.e. a large van, or even two, to help share the workload and to contribute towards the costs of the transportation.

Why are we doing all this?
The importance of fast and unhindered access to hospital for air ambulance patients cannot be under estimated. Even when traffic is light and drivers are considerate, the added distance from a helicopter landing a short distance from the hospital can add several minutes to a journey when speed and time may be vital to a patients survival.

We really do need your help to get helipads into our hospitals so please, please, donate if you can - even the smallest amount will help us move towards our target .... and maybe one day, might help save the life of someone you love.
Many thanks.
