Helen's Cello Needs Your Help

Dear friends,
On Saturday December 7th, 2024. my beloved cello, my #1 that I have been playing since I was 15 faceplanted off its cello stand perch and onto the stage floor! Sadly, after performing a benefit for our friends' theatre-- to save their independent theatre and music venue in the Bywater neighborhood in New Orleans, my cello was on stage on its stand. Just minutes after I finished playing, before I had a chance to remove it from stage, it was knocked over accidentally by the band loading gear onto the stage to play after me. It fell forward and its neck broke completely off, also breaking off the pickup I use to amplify my cello sound.
I have another newer cello that I do not amplify or bring to play outdoors, although I have explored outfitting her for moments I may be seperated from my #1. The new cello is beautiful but also no where near the sentimental value of this instrument.
This original cello I've had for 31 years has grown and shaped the sound I have today over a lifetime of practice and performance. She is truly irreplaceable.
Although I have managed to get a temporary fix (thankyou Sal!), my cello neck will need some significant repair to bring her back to her full potential and strength. I know that I will likely be at least $2500.
The cello pick up is not covered by insurance - it costs $650.
I really appreciate any and all of your contributions to get me back to playing this cello in full confidence!
Thankyou for your outpouring of support and love, hugs and empathy. Rock on everyone!!
Love and peace to all,
