Recently the Weger family had their lives turned upside down. During Helen's routine eye exam it was discovered she had diabetes. While adjusting her medications to normalize her glucose and minimize their side effects, her doctored ordered a chest xray after she was experiencing loss of her voice. The chest xray revealed a couple of masses and after a subsequent biopsy, she was diagnosed with stage 3/4 cancer. A follow up soon showed metastases through her body.

This life changing news meant multiple appointments, radiation treatment, and chemotherapy, along with worsening symptoms. Helen has been unable to work and care for herself. As may of you know, Helen lives with two of her children, Jessica and Joey, who have become her caregivers. Her other son, Jake, lives a couple hours away with his wife and two children. Unable to afford in home care, her children are making sure her personal needs are met, while working fulltime.

So, with the help of all of you, we can take away some of their financial fears, allowing them to take FMLA and care for their mother.
