As many of you may already know, our much loved OMU oracle of knowledge Helen Jackson has retired from the service after almost 27 years.

Helen began her career in October 1999 at HMP Latchmere House and remained there in various roles until it's closure in 2011. Following this, Helen moved to HMP High Down before settling at HMP Send in 2012 where we have been lucky enough to keep her for the past 14 years.

Throughout Helen's time in the service she has been committed to all of her roles and has had a profound impact on so many of us that have worked with her. She has a dedication to helping her colleagues and sharing her knowledge as well as ensuring that our processes are fair for the prisoners in our custody. She's built relationships throughout the service and is known for her kindness and reliability and has truly been a cornerstone in OMU.

Helen is extremely proud of her time in the service, and unfortunately due to a cancer diagnosis in August 2025 has had to take retirement earlier than she planned, which has been very hard for her and her family.

We will miss Helen hugely and want to celebrate her amazing years at HMPPS so any donations are greatly appreciated to help make this happen.
