Help my friend leave her ICE agent husband

Donation protected

Update #3: I didn't realize there was an "automatic update" toggle for the donation amount when setting this up. I want to make it know that my friend only needs $750 total. $720 of that is for her landlord and $30 for a meal and snacks on her road trip.

Update #2: I'm packing my belongings and have contacted my new landlord to let him know I'm coming! I'll be out of here tomorrow night. You are all so generous. Thank you.

Update: Whoa. I made this fundraiser without even sharing it anywhere yet since I was folding laundry. My friend who these donations are for and has access to the fundraiser called to tell me about the donations.

To the amazing souls donating and whoever shared the fundraiser somewhere; thank you so much. We are blown away.

I’m raising funds for my best friend, who's name will remain anonymous for safety reasons, who is at a turning point that no one ever expects to face.

For the past 9 years, she has been married to a man who works as an ICE Field Investigator currently assigned in Minnesota for the past 57 days. While he is away on duty, she has come to the difficult and painful decision that she needs to leave the marriage for good. This isn’t a choice she’s made lightly. Over time, she has experienced financial abuse that has left her with little control over her own money and limited ability to plan for her future. Beyond finances, their lives have grown increasingly incompatible. His extreme political allegiance to Donald Trump, MAGA, and important core values no longer align with hers, and the emotional strain of living in that conflict has become too much to bear.

With him out of state, this is her safest and most realistic opportunity to make a clean break and rebuild her life on her own terms.

Her plan is to move to Georgia to be near her parents, where she will have a support system, stability, and a place to heal and start over. She has found a small, safe home, but she needs help covering the deposit and first month’s rent.

Her goal is a modest amount that will make a huge difference in giving her a fresh start.

These funds will go directly towards completing the total needed ($2170, most of which she already has) to move into her new home. If you can donate, even a small amount, it will help her take a brave step toward independence, safety, and peace. If you’re unable to give financially, sharing this fundraiser means just as much.

Thank you for helping someone I love begin a new chapter.
