Heidi’s Spinal Surgery and Recovery
Donation protected
My mom, Heidi, has a cyst on her tailbone that has been causing her daily pain and is growing up into her spinal cord, starting to cause neurological problems, and it is surrounding all of her nerves that affect daily bodily functions, such as bowel, bladder, breathing, speech, etc. This is a rare cyst, and the only doctors who will operate on this type of cyst are at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD. Mom’s surgery is scheduled for February 20th with Dr. Witham. This is a very risky surgery, and will require a 3-month recovery period of no lifting. Even with having her insurance, her medical bills will be extensive, as well as travel to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland, lodging, food, follow-up care after surgery, and her missing several weeks of work. My mom is a nurse and absolutely loves what she does. I’m asking for any help we can give her and my dad, Jon, either through giving monetarily or just praying for us, and supporting us during this time. Her husband and my dad, Jon, is wheelchair-bound, and a lot of the care will fall on myself and extended family as she recovers. We will keep you updated after surgery and during the recovery process. We thank everyone who has reached out to support us in every way and the family that is taking the time to stay with us during this challenging time. Thank you in advance for everything! ❤️ We will be heading up to Baltimore on 2/18, and we are to be at the hospital at 6:00 AM on 2/20. We will continue to update you throughout this process.
