Heidi is a beautiful soul who has had a difficult time. I bought her as my first horse in 2019, not knowing that she was quietly hiding a number of painful problems. In her time with me, Heidi has fought back from kissing spines surgery, gastric ulcers, and the trauma caused by long-term pain. You can look back at her eventful journey on Instagram
In January this year, just when she was doing well, Heidi injured her foot in the field.

After months of rest and care, infection still managed to return which needed surgical attention. Because my vet and I were already exploring a potential issue in the same foot, we have reached the limit of Heidi's insurance and there is no money for her surgery and aftercare. I am funding the surgery by credit card, borrowing, and trying to sell some of Heidi's things. But we have a long road ahead that will need regular ongoing vet attention and a huge amount of bandaging supplies.
It was a difficult decision to put her through surgery. Heidi has been through so much. But she has also come so far, regained her zest for life, and taught me more than I realised there was to know.
It feels ridiculous to ask when everyone is struggling with the cost of living. Heidi's bill so far is more than double this fundraiser but any small donations towards Heidi's recovery would be very gratefully received to help her keep fighting.
