Heidi Sorenson

Hello everyone,

My family and I are starting this fundraiser for Heidi and her family. Heidi is a stay-at-home mom to her beautiful children. She is a full time caretaker for Liliana who has complex medical needs in which Heidi cares for 24/7. Heidi loves God and loves children. She volunteers at Awanas, enjoys taking her children on nature walks, going to the library, going to church, and simply making every moment special.

Now to why we are reaching out…

For the last three months, Heidi has been struggling with excruciating pain and GI symptoms often leading to doctors and several emergency room visits. Upon running tests, the doctors determined the cause of the pain was a combination of infection, narrowing of her intestines, and her colon not functioning well. Heidi had emergency surgery on Sunday March 26th to repair the colon. During surgery, the doctors had to make a difficult decision to not remove the colon yet as it was too inflamed. Inflammation treatment was started and went over the course of a few days. The inflammation decreased to a level that would hopefully be repaired. The biopsies came back and were positive for Colorectal Cancer Stage 4.

On Wednesday March 29th, Heidi had emergency surgery for 8 hours. They were not able to repair the colon and can try to repair the colon again in 12 months with another surgery. The doctors were able to remove all of the cancer. Heidi will now have a long recovery in front of her. Once she recovers fully from surgery, she will start Chemotherapy to eliminate any cancer cells that have remained.

With Colorectal Cancer comes several health issues. Cancer is a beast, but Heidi is a warrior. She will fight this with everything she has. She has already gone through so much and she will continue to have to go through so much more.

While Heidi is going through this fight of her life she could use our help to encourage her and help take care of her family in any way we can. Liliana will need help with a caretaker while Heidi recovers from multiple surgeries and during chemotherapy as well as future surgeries.

Heidi is a warrior and will fight this!
