On the 19th of June, 1944, Heidi A. (Kuschell) Skinner was born into a tumultuous time in history not unlike the present time. During her lifetime, she has actively worked and supported numerous causes in which many of you have been involved. She strived to make this world a better place for all of us. To celebrate her 76th birthday, we are making this heartfelt appeal.
As many of you know, Heidi (like her mother, Betty) is suffering from severe dementia/Alzheimer’s Disease. It has been a long, 7 year journey, and thankfully last fall we found a beautiful, assisted living space for Heidi at Colby’s Orchard House. They are loving, nurturing, and have quickly become family to us all, especially to our Heidi. She fits in nicely and has really come to love the residents and care workers there. I am forever grateful for their level of care; however, it comes at a considerable cost.
In lieu of gifts this year for Heidi, I am asking for donations so I can keep her in Colby’s Orchard House as long as possible.The annual cost is in excess of $70,000, and while I would be overwhelmed to reach that amount with this appeal, that is not my primary goal. Any amount contributed would be greatly appreciated and go directly to her care.
If you’d like to leave a special note for Heidi, I’ll read those to her when I visit.
