On Friday, September 17th, Heidi Daehlin (47) collapsed in her kitchen in Lakeville, MN. Her daughter, Lis, called 911 and Heidi was rushed to Regions hospital via ambulance. After two days of tests, scans, and blood work, it was determined that Heidi had a stroke followed by several seizures. Thankfully, her motion and feeling that was lost due to the stroke has been completely restored, praise God! However, the neurologist at Regions hospital discovered a mass on her brain that is either a tumor or residual fluid/blood resulting from the stroke. Heidi is going to need more testing in the next couple of months to determine the nature of what was found on her brain. Heidi is recovering at home and has been placed on bed rest for an indeterminate amount of time. Because Heidi is an independent business consultant, she does not have paid sick leave or severance. As some of you know, Heidi and Erik Daehlin are financially responsible for not just their own household, but their extended family's as well. So losing wages at this time is hard hit to this family. When you add up the medical expenses and Heidi's lost wages, it is very overwhelming. The biggest concern for Heidi is that her family's needs are taken care of while she tries to recover and heal. A breakdown of the medical costs when you include an ambulance ride, an ER visit that includes Code Blue care, the multiple MRI's, PET scans, CT scans, spinal tap, lab cultures, medication and hospital stay is astronomical. Her medical journey is not over, with several follow-up procedures, lab draws, and visits with specialist appointments in the near future that will help determine the nature of the mass on her brain.
