Heidi Baumbarger and Firefly
Donation protected
Many of you know Heidi Baumbarger. Those of you that know me know that Heidi has been a tremendous help to me and to our rescued GWPs. She donates her time and training skills to retrain dogs that most people have given up on. Sadly Heidi and her retired service dog, Firefly, need some help.
Firefly is 13 years young, She and Heidi have been through a lot together including cancer and type 1 diabetes being the worst) Firefly has alerted Heidi to dropping or raising blood sugar for many years and accompanied Heidi to all her chemo sessions, as well as comforted her through multiple surgeries. Now Firefly needs our help.
A few months ago Firefly started coughing. The reason is still unknown and may remain that way. She could spend 3-4,000. just chasing the diagnosis. She has been tested for blastomycosis and it was negative. Cancer is a possibility, but the vet thinks the most likely scenario is a grass seed that has migrated to her lungs. The current treatment is long term antibiotics, cough suppressants and bronchia dilators. As you can imagine, vet bills are rising and will continue. These medications will give her comfort and hopefully will cure her.
As much as Heidi has done for the GWP Rescue community I felt it was only fair to give back in her time of need. Firefly certainly does not look like a dog that is at the end of life. Please donate to Heidi and Firefly.
