Hi, My name is Christine Dalton Bergen and I am fundraising for my dear, life-long friend, Laura Ann Camden Hoffner.
Laura lives with several very serious, chronic medical conditions, including the below. For more info on these conditions, please follow the attached URL links.
- Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
- Interstitial lung disease (ILD)
These diseases have had a downward domino-effect on Laura's overall health, leading to a cumulative decline in her independence and quality of life. Her most recent diagnosis of ILD immediately and tremendously affects her daily independence, comfort, and her life expectancy. ILD is a cruel and extremely painful lung disease with the only cure being a possible lung transplant.
Laura is on disability and is a single mom of 3 children--one of which is still in college and one that is a disabled adult who lives with her and for which she is the caregiver.
As if her health issues were not enough, within the last few months, Laura had a plumbing leak within her house that caused devastating damage to all the floors of her home. This was followed a few weeks later by a fire in one room of her house, which caused extensive smoke damage.
If you are overwhelmed just reading about this, imagine if this were your daily reality. Please help in any way that you can. I truly believe that you can make a difference and relieve some of Laura's stress. You can make an impactful difference on her life with even the smallest donation. You can help change her life for the better.
Urgent needs:
- $ to urgently travel to appointments at Mount Sinai & the Cleveland Clinic for consultations for her ILD which poses an immediate threat to her comfort & life expectancy
- $ to cover additional medical expenses not covered by insurance
Substantial needs:
- $ to cover the expenses (not covered by her insurance) to restore her home to its pre-disaster state. Currently, it is in need of replacing dry wall, flooring, wiring, electrical fixtures, repainting, etc.
If you want to know more about Laura herself, I can tell you that she is a kind, thoughtful, strongly-independent, smart, beautiful person. She prefers to help others rather than ask for help for herself. Laura has endured countless medical procedures and surgeries in the last several years with the goal of being as healthy and independent as possible--all while asking for as little help as possible. As a mom, she is the fiercest supporter of and advocate for her children of anyone that I know. She is a loyal friend and I am proud to call her my dear friend.
