Family of Dog Attacked by Police Dog Needs Help

Donation protected
My friend’s dog was attacked by a police dog and needs help. Her little Yorkie, Charley, was viciously attacked by an off-duty K-9 dog on her own property. The K-9 saw Charley, broke off his leash, and charged at the 16-year-old and her dog. All the daughter could do was scream helplessly as she watched Charley get tossed around like a ragdoll.

Charley had emergency surgery and thankfully survived. He is slowly healing from 4 broken ribs, a punctured lung, torn muscles, and a lacerated liver. Charley has severe PTSD resulting from the attack.  He sits trembling in his crate. He barks constantly at the area where he was attacked. There are even times when he has been scared of his own family.

The young teenaged girl relives that day in her head over and over.  In fact, two weeks prior to this event the K-9 charged at her. She was leaving another neighbor’s fenced-in yard and she was able to get herself back inside the yard before he jumped at her through the fence. She was terrified. Now she is fearful to walk the dog or to just be outside.

The K-9 was evaluated and was determined to be fit for duty.  The fear is that the K-9 will be returned to the handler.  My friend and her daughter do not feel safe in their yard.  They want to install a fence on the property, but being a single Mom, finances are tight. Would you consider helping, so they don’t have to live in fear of another attack?  Any donations above what is needed will be donated to a local animal sanctuary.
