Hector has been a staple in his community, known for his bright spirit and dedication at Yokes. He has been at Yokes for over 15 years and in those years he has made lifelong friends. He makes a trip to the grocery store worth making. He was grew up in Tijuana, Mexico in a poor neighborhood and as a child like many of us he had big dreams. His perseverance and hard work have shaped him into the loving father, grandfather, and friend he is today. For over 40 years, Hector dreamed of visiting Puerto Rico and seeing the Castillo San Felipe del Morro. In 2024, we made that dream come true for him, and now, as he approaches his 65th birthday in July, I hope to help him fulfill even more of his lifelong wishes.
Hector is my dad, and we are doing this fundraiser to help him achieve some of those dreams he had as a kid. This is a SURPRISE for him, to show him just how much he means to this community! He has mentioned his desire to travel to Hawaii to see the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, and to visit Seattle to pay respects at Bruce Lee's grave among other things he would like to do. These journeys are more than just trips. The funds raised will help cover flight fare for Hector and his wife, vehicle rental, food, and accommodations, making these dreams possible and comfortable for them both.
Hector is not only a bright light in the community but also a very dedicated father, grandfather, and friend. He has worked two full-time jobs for as long as our family can remember, and his struggles and perseverance led him to bring us to the United States in 1999. Hector has 6 children and 15 grandkids, all of whom have families of their own. We are grateful for his sacrifices and love. Because of his efforts, his children are able to be together in Spokane. Hector deserves to make his dreams come true—if not all of them, then at least some. He has worked his entire life, and now it's time for the community to show him just how thankful they are to have him.
