Hector's still Achey, Breaky Heart

By this time we truly believed that I would have received a new heart, be back to work and resumed the closest thing to a normal life. I would like to be able to say that things have changed dramatically for the better in the past two years, and in many ways they had; but my heart condition as always has had its own agenda. Along with several other setbacks, I was diagnosed with an LVAD thrombosis which is a blood clot inside a blood vessel, obstructing the flow of blood through the circulatory system. In my case, the clot was inside my LVAD pump.
In September this year I had my 3rd open heart surgery to replace my LVAD and relocate it’s output cable to the opposite side of my stomach. The recovery was challenging but with the grace of G-d and support of my relentless wife I made it through recovery.
Fast forward to today, I have developed a nagging infection within my main LVAD incision that requires me to be on IV antibiotics 24 hours a day, for an undetermined amount of time.
In the meantime we are trying hard to keep our sanity, our home and to be able to manage our medical and living expenses. So once again I humbly reach out to those that have been with us through this challenging journey and that know me enough that I wouldn’t ask for anything if I truly didn’t need it. But most of all I need your prayers to eradicate this infection in order to be back on the transplant list where I will continue to wait and hopefully receive the blessing of a healthy new heart.
