Hi, it's Heath and I'm finally getting top surgery in January 2025 :-)

Some of you may have known me thru the realms of art, music, performance, writing, sign painting, floral design, herbalism, astrology, energy work, being gay, DIY / the freak underground, & beyond.... I've always been a shapeshifter and this is just another facet of that. Top surgery (masculinizing double mastectomy) has been a long-awaited and necessary procedure, and already postponed once for almost a year, and I'm so ready for my physical form to become more aligned with who I am and how I want and need to exist in the world. This will immeasurably impact and uplift my mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health for the rest of my life !

Medi-Cal insurance will cover my surgery costs, but I'm still going to need significant funds for recovery that I don't have in reserves after quite honestly a financially grueling couple of years. Despite working nonstop, my income has been drained into endless bills, healthcare for chronic illness / a bad bike accident / ongoing injuries, continuous car issues including but not limited to two stolen vehicles in one year (!), and that's just what I will share publicly… It's been a lot y'all, and I haven't had a chance to catch up yet. I'm self-employed working primarily as a studio assistant and a sign painter and I don't receive paid time off. That spans from physically intensive to straight up manual labor, and I'll need to take up to 6-8 weeks off from most if not all of it, as my mobility and strength will be severely limited. Because of health issues, giving myself enough space to heal and reducing stress is even more vital.

For transparency, I'm asking for the total cost because both of my cats require (hella expensive + necessary) dental work, honestly before my surgery and I'm not even sure how I will swing that. I'm doing all that I can on my own and I'm going to have to rely on the love and care and generosity of my friends, communities & strangers alike to get thru this! There are a lot of extremely urgent needs out there right now, so the fact that you are even reading mine is very humbling and I do not take it lightly.
