Heath Family Medical Fund

For years, I have helped to raise money for different candidates and causes. Now, in the most humbling effort of my life thus far, I am raising money for something much closer to my heart - my parents.

Through soul searching and prayer, I have come to realize that we all need help sometimes. And for my parents, that time is now.

For the past three years, the Lord has sustained my mom after she was diagnosed with stage 3B Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Since then, my parents’ lives have profoundly changed.

They are now struggling financially due to the unending medical costs associated with mom's cancer and diabetes, and the medical issues my dad now has due to the associated stress.

Recently, Mom’s health has rapidly declined. She is facing new challenges as her stomach and pancreas have stopped functioning. She has severe bone pain and now requires assistance devices for daily living. Over the next few weeks, she will need more tests and possibly a trip to Philadelphia to visit with a specialist as she continues her fight.

This is why I am asking for your support. Despite the bravery and perseverance that they have shown, my parents' challenges are far from over. And, if we can alleviate a portion of the financial burden, my greatest hope is that they can better focus their efforts on recovery and quality of life.

Throughout this journey, my parents were forced to exhaust their personal savings, retirement, and much of their life insurance in order to cover the exorbitant cost of treatment. They had to put most of these expenses on credit cards.

Dad opted to collect social security early for guaranteed income, while still working as much as possible part-time. And what’s more, I just recently learned that they spend $2,000 to $3,000 per month in out-of-pocket medical expenses. This represent nearly 70% of their monthly income.

This was a wake-up call for me and the catalyst for launching this campaign.

I can't begin to express how difficult it is to see my parents struggle.

But, above it all, we are a family of faith. Our faith has guided us through this entire process. If not for God, we would be lost. As challenging as our new reality has become, I believe that this sickness has brought us much closer as a family unit. Even in the face of death, we have seen life through Christ.

So, please join me in praying for my parents. Pray that the doctors will have wisdom, that questions will be answered, that strength will abound, and that finances will no longer cause daily fear.

And, if after that prayerful consideration, you decide to help my parents financially, please do so.

You can give to my parents through this site. Or, if you would like to help in other ways, please contact me directly.

Anything you can offer, from kind words to your meaningful donation, would mean so much to me and my parents.

Thank you for your support and making their future brighter.
