This loving single mother of six is in dire need of support for brain surgery. In November of 2008 a CAT scan revealed a cyst growing on the pineal gland near the deepest parts of her brain. Due to the location and size the risk of surgery was to great.
In March of 2013 the cyst had grown to a size that caused debilitating pain and suffering. Loss of motor function, loss of vision, being awake for days on end, and blinding migranes that never ceased. The doctors had discovered that the cyst had crushed her cerebral aqueduct, which allows your spinal fluid to flow, causing hydrocephalus. Still with removal of the cyst being too much of a risk, the doctors opted for a lesser brain surgery of a VP Shunt which would bypass the cerebral aqueduct and allow the release of spinal fluid accumulating on her brain. The operation was a success, or so she thought.
Eight months later the pain and suffering returned. Doctors have now discovered the ventricles in her brain have collasped causing the VP Shunt to fail. Devestated, the only option left is the high risk surgery of removal. She has located a surgeon in Texas, Dr. Dong H. Kim, who can preform the evasive craniotomy.
The cost of travel, brain surgery, and six to eight weeks of suggested recovery will be staggering. I'm reaching out to anyone who can help her get her life back and make this a reality. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this story. God bless you and please pray for Heather!
