Greetings and Salutations! We are the world premiere cast of Heathers 101 High School Edition.
JJ Pearce High School has a world renowned high school theatre program that is consistently at the forefront of musical theatre. In April of last year we were approached to be the first high school in the country to produce the high school adaption of Heathers the Musical. So it began...JJ Pearce High School the World Premiere Cast of Heather's 101.
Heathers 101, the High School Edition became the journey we would take for six short weeks, the actors transformed into the beautiful and touching characters from Heathers (the dark comedy from the 80's with the same name). A write up in PLAYBILL, a visit from Kevin Murphy the shows creator, and other exciting guest and messages were all on the path ahead for this talented cast. We thought the journey ended September 20th, that was until the call came three weeks ago. Heathers 101 was selected to perform for the entire state of Texas at the Texas Thespian State Festival in December. "It's been so VERY."
Heathers 101 is an important story that must be told. A story of finding your place in the terrifying world of high school. Labels, stereotypes and trying to fit in, are told in a dark comedy that is both funny and heartbreaking. The cast has worked hard to make this performance as touching and accepting as possible. They have been there for friends that needed to talk about their own struggles with depression, feelings of sadness or just a place to fit in. They have gone beyond actors and become ambassadors of the show.
Producing a musical is expensive, touring a show is even more expensive. We are putting up this Go Fund Me to help us with the cost of running the show again: lights, sound, musicians, costumes, transportation and programs are the costs we will occur. Every penny we collect will go towards our Heathers 101 cast and crew's huge achievenment of performing MainStage at the Texas Thespian Festival.
