Heather's Gender Affirming Recovery Fundraiser

Dear friends, community and allies,

I am reaching out with an important update: I am preparing for gender-affirming surgery, a significant step in aligning my physical self with how I feel inside. This procedure is essential for my mental health, self-esteem, and overall well-being. It represents a crucial milestone in my journey towards living authentically and reducing the weirdness caused by my gender dysphoria.

After years of providing service to clients and their dogs, it’s time that I am asking for help. While the surgery itself is covered in Manitoba, the costs associated with recovery are not. I will need to take a month off dog walking and farming to heal properly, resulting in a considerable loss of income.

This is where I need your support. Your generous donations will enable me to cover my expenses during my recovery period, allowing me to heal without the added stress of financial insecurity. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your network would also be greatly appreciated.

I am immensely grateful to Manitoba Health for providing this type of care and for the recent changes that have made accessing gender-affirming surgery more achievable in Manitoba. Thank you to the Manitoba NDP for their work in this area.
