Hello my name is Christel. Heather has been my partner for the past 26 years. Never during our life together did i think i would be faced with losing Heather. Then the unthinkable occurred.
Heather had difficulty with word finding one day. This lasted only a few minutes and we thought that Heather may have had TIA's. So off to the emergency ward where they did a CT of the head and found a tumor on the left side of her brain in her speech center. She was immediately transfered to Royal Columbian Hospital where they did a biopsy 2 days later confirming a Glioblastoma IDH wild type (CNS WHO 4).
Since that diagnosis Heather has undergone 15 treatments of Radiation along with Chemotherapy - Temozolomide. Heather has been experiencing worsening headaches and increasing SOB. Heather received another CT after seeing her doctor regarding her worsening symptoms wherr they found the tumor was growing even with the treatments.
Western Canada does not have any trials for Glioblastomas. However we have found possible treatment options in Arizona. This includes resection of her tumor removing everything they can without damaging other areas of her brain.
So we have decided to do this page in the hopes we can get enough money to go there for treatment. Please considering helping. Heather is only 60 years old. We are currently raising our twin 5 year old grandchildren and without Heather in good health this will be impossible. Thank you
