Help Heather Rowin fight stage 4 cancer

Donation protected
We, Laura, Shannon and June are coming to you all with heavy hearts in regards to our sister Heather Rowin. She was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer. As this was unexpected we were unprepared for the amount that is needed for her living and medical expenses. Due to the advanced nature of her cancers she is no longer able to work - though honestly we have no idea how she was able to work as long as she did.

A little about Heather: her life hasn’t been an easy one - but she has never lost her optimistic giving nature. She has single handedly raised 5 children and is the grandmother to 13 grandchildren. She has worked consistently since she was 17 and the majority of that was for one company. She would always show up to work with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. Her customers never failed to leave her presence in a better spirit. While working was a way of supporting her family - she enjoyed what she did. But as of late September she is unable to do that and is worried about making her living expenses and upcoming medical bills. She was never one to accept help; she was always the one to give it. But now she needs help more than ever.

About Heather’s cancer: in June of this year she started to experience pain. At first she thought the pain was work related (pulled muscle, lifted to much, etc) but by July the pain became too much for her to handle and she went in to urgent care thinking it wasn’t anything serious. From a trip to urgent care, being referred to a primary care doctor to eventually an oncologist her road to an official diagnosis has been a bit of a roller coaster and a waiting game that felt like it took forever.

The oncologist: from the first appointment we were warned things were not good. She had about 40 masses in/around her liver alone. After the biopsy it was confirmed that her cancer was indeed stage 4. Without treatment she would have less than 6 months to live.

About her choice: Heather has made the difficult to choice to fight!!! She is not ready to claim defeat and give in to this disease. Chemo is set to start soon and we are praying for the best. Her oncologist believes that chemo will kill/shrink some of her masses. Now she knows this will not be an easy road but she is not ready to give up her kids and family yet. She is fighting for more time. More time for herself, more time to be with the family that she has sacrificed her life for, and also more time to live a little.

What she needs: Right now Heather is in need of support. More support than family alone can give her. She needs to be able to make her monthly bills to survive, get her medicine and pay for her treatments and office visits. She has applied for disability but that can take months to come through and when it does it will most likely not be enough to meet all her financial needs. We understand that times are tough right now for people so whatever you are able to give to help support our sister during one of the worst times in her life is greatly appreciated.

Thank you and God Bless you!
