Heather Moulder Cancer and Medical Emergencies
Donation protected
May 18th my mom (Heather Moulder) went to Lake Regional in pain on lunch and they told her basically she should see another doctor and gave her muscle relaxers and sent her home. On the 20th my sister had dropped her off at the ER at Boone Hospital where she sat for hours. The Dr said they got her stuff from the other hospital and they couldnt believe they sent her home. They admitted her and started testing asap. By that Thursday they knew certain she had cancer, the next step was to be find out where. Monday she met with the Dr at the cancer center by Boone. That Wednesday she had a PET scan and by Friday she was starting chemo. After that her blood pressure had became normal again and she was no longer on oxygen. She has since been on work leave at Osage beach Walmart where she has dedicated a big chunk of her life to and left a huge impact on the community. She misses her people, friends, and customers. Very quickly Times started getting a little harder and my step dad took her on several trips to the hospital. They started giving fluids regularly. After a while she went back and stayed at the hospital for 7 days because she struggled to eat and drink. When she went in she could walk and function. When she came out after an entire week she has struggled to walk, stand, balance, and be herself. Her chemo got put on pause to rebuild strength for the time being. The last month and a half she has her good days and not so good days. She ended up getting a nurse and physical therapist to come to her home so they could shower her, work with her, and help her get back to being herself and building that strength. But there was really no signs of progress. She eventually decided to transfer cancer centers to Barnes Jewish in St. Louis and her first appoint is August 21.
Fast forward to Sunday August 11, mom woke up and said she couldn’t breathe and her heart was racing. My grandma recommended they go ahead and get a jump at Barnes Jewish and go there for what’s going on. When they arrived the emergency staff immediately started running tests and had found LARGE blood clots in her lungs. They gave her medicine and did an emergency transfer to the main Barnes hospital and got to work. They said that she should have contacted 911 and she was very lucky to get there when she did. They kept her over night and myself and my wife, and my step dad all had stayed to be with her. Today they continued scans and said the clots had went down SOME but they did find a clot in her leg. They have planned a procedure for the 13th to install a filter to block that clot from moving from her legs to her lungs or heart. As of now, after that they will continue the blood clot medicine and hope it continues breaking apart on its own. If it doesn’t they plan to possibly go in and break it up some themselves or try to remove some. But both of those options come with a lot of risk.
Behind all of this, my mom and step dad still have life at home. This donation is to help with the financial stress, medical bills, and all other things required/needed in this time. My step dad stays with her daily and has to put off work to make sure he is there. If you can’t donate, I would ask that you share this and pray for my mom. I’ve seen what small towns and prayer can do. It’s time to come together.
I want to thank everyone for reading, sharing, and praying. The journey ahead may be a long one, but one we will not stop fighting. If you would prefer Venmo send it to Carson-Moulder Whatever you are able to do means more than you know and my family will be forever grateful. She is Strong, she is Courageous, she is Blessed and she is Healed. She is Heather the Healed.
