Help Heather & Marc Rebuild from Hurricane Hit

Hi. I’m Noelle. I set this account up for my sister Heather, and her husband Marc LaFond. Some of you have asked to help them so I invite your generous and compassionate hearts to come up alongside them to rebuild from the devastation of Hurricane Ian. They live right in Fort Meyers, Florida and took a direct hit.

They’ve lost everything, including their house and cars. During the storm, I read her texts to my dad which was heartbreaking. “Dad, the waters coming in. It’s coming higher. I’m scared. Dad it’s almost up to the second floor. My car’s under water. Trees are coming down around me.”

Can you even imagine such a situation?

Some have asked why they didn’t leave. You may not know that the hurricane wasn’t supposed to hit their area and changed course. Just before it hit, she sent a picture of a red cardinal that wouldn’t leave despite the high winds and debris. Our beautiful mother passed away earlier this year and Heather felt her presence. I personally think God places us in “assignments” that we don’t always understand. The truth is, if they didn’t stay, others may not have been saved.

After the water surge, Marc helped rescue trapped elderly neighbors with his chainsaw. The stories would make you cry… I can’t wait to share more when I can get the details better. (Phone towers are down and electric outages make it hard now). I’m so proud of his efforts. He is a strong and courageous guy, a military veteran and an absolute powerhouse. They both are, and definitely not ones to sit still in a crisis. That being said, it’s not easy for them to ask for help. But they *do* need our help. And they would be so grateful and humble to receive it at this time.

As we all know, losing everything you’ve spent a lifetime to build brings heartache and emotions beyond words. I’m reaching out because these two are incredibly brave. They need us. And I know they will use every last dollar for not just themselves, but others who need it too.

That’s just the kind of people they are.
