Heather Lowery-O'Dell Moyamoya Fund
Donation protected
When she was 10 years old, my sister Heather Lowery-O'Dell was diagnosed with acute T-cell leukemia. After 3 years of radiation and chemotherapy, she was pronounced recovered and in complete remission. Last month, she was diagnosed with “radiation-induced Moyamoya disease” caused by her treatments many years ago. Moyamoya disease is a rare, progressive, life-threatening cerebrovascular disorder caused by blocked arteries at the base of the brain in an area called the basal ganglia. She has been accepted by Stanford University in California to receive cranial artery bypass surgery for March 28, 2018 – it’s like a heart bypass, but for her brain. She is due in California on March 21st to begin tests.
Heather is an elementary school teacher in Birmingham, Alabama. Both she and her husband work at the elementary school. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. Please pray for them, share this page and donate if possible. God bless you, thank you.
