On June 14, 2020 - Heather reached out to her "little sisters." We received the news no one ever wants to hear - she has cancer. At the time the diagnosis was positive, very early stage 1 Breast Cancer. A lumpectomy was scheduled, and other tests performed. Heather then received a MRI that showed something on her sternum, prior to her lumpectomy. The surgery went well, but a Bone Scan was ordered. Jump forward to July 10 - a lesion was discovered on her sternum - we're now looking at stage 1 possibly turning into stage 4. Her lymph nodes came back clear, so the Dr's were almost convinced this most likely was not cancerous, but a biopsy was performed on July 22. Here I sit a week later creating this page for my sister, a person who even though we may not share every moment together, we share this silent bond as sisters, women, wives, and mothers. She is the person who played ewoks with me (don't ask - but she was Mace to my Cyndil - Mandy was Wickett)... we danced, sang, fought, loved, hugged, and you're never ready for this. My heart breaks for her, how she must feel and the battle she has to face. It is confirmed that she has Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer and she's going to fight. I want to fight along side of her providing what I can so that she can focus on herself and on her girls, my nieces and I am hoping that we, Family and Friends can come together and support them financially - or as much as we can throughout all of this. I know the above number seems absurd, but that is not even what the cost looks like as of now, and we only just begun.
