Greetings! In case you haven’t heard our dear friend Heather Haley recently broke her right arm in a freak accident. (She was leaning on a folding chair when it suddenly collapsed, crushing her forearm. Ouch!) It’s the same radius she broke in a terrible car crash as a teenager. Surgery was required again, this time to remove the metal pin used to set it way back when and replace it with lighter, stainless steel hardware. “I got an upgrade!” If I laugh it’s that I do not cry, as Heather always says.

She’s been in a lot of pain and can’t work for a minimum of three months according to her orthopedic doctor. Being self-employed Heather is not eligible for EI or such benefits. She is currently subsisting on meager savings which will run out soon. I’m reaching out to far-flung family and Heather’s network of long-time friends and associates. We are hoping to raise enough funds to cover exorbitant Vancouver rent and living expenses for two months while Heather recovers.
